Design & finish
The upper form is a broad, open bowl: circular at the rim, rounded through the body, then a little more upright as it meets a thick, softly rounded edge. It is finished in a warm semi-gloss metallic gold — rich rather than mirror-bright, and nothing like a yellow plastic gold. Unlit, the interior reads a shade deeper, more bronze-gold, because of the bowl’s own shadow. Lit, that same surface becomes a warm reflector throwing light upward. The outer gold picks up surrounding light softly.
The base is matte black iron in stacked cylindrical forms: a narrow collar under the bowl, a wider central body with a softened shoulder, and a narrower foot. The contrast is architectural rather than ornate, and sits comfortably with wood, stone, brass, and deeper colours — teal, navy, emerald, burgundy, rust, and black.
Because this is handmade iron with a polished finish, slight shifts in tone and surface character are natural. They are part of the piece, not a flaw.
Ambient uplighting
A conventional table lamp sends light outward through a shade. This one holds an E27 bulb in the centre of a deep metal bowl, so the source stays concealed from normal viewing angles and the room is lit by a softer upward wash. Use it for atmosphere, not as a reading or task light. A warm-white E27 bulb suits the design.
